Christmas Thank You Card

Now that Christmas is over, it's time to get busy on your thank you cards.

Here are a couple of cards I whipped up today using the Close To My Heart "Pear & Partridge" paper packet and one of my favorite stamps sets "Remarkable Wreath".

Snowman Ornaments

Not only am I making some of these adorable snowmen for my tree, but since they are such an inexpensive homemade item, I've decided to use them as gift tags for presents this year too.

Happy Crafting!!!

What you'll need:

  • 1 paint-stick from a hardware store (you can usually get a handful for free)
  • White paint (I added a bit of brown to my white to give it a more primitive look)
  • Black, pink and orange paint pen or sharpie (I used pink Copic Markers #R00 and R20 for mine)
  • Old fabric remnants
  • Buttons - (I embellished mine with buttons, but they were just as cute without them)

DIY Wood Blocks

DIY Family Blocks

  • Cut a 2x4 anywhere between 5" to 3.5" sizes
  • Spray paint all the blocks with a matte black
  • Cut pattern paper to fit the blocks and so that a little of the black was showing around the edge
  • Sand the edges to give a vintage look.
  • I cut the word "Family" from my Cricut using black vinyl
  • Add the paper to the wood with Mod Podge
  • Attach the vinyl letters to each block
  • Add another coat of Mod Podge on top
  • Once dry add your embellishments.

Candy Jar

DIY Retro Candy Jar

Here is a fun easy project that I put together over the weekend.

Supplies needed:

  • 1 -  Round Clear Glass Bowl
  • 1 - 4" Terra Cotta Flower Pot and saucer
  • 1 - 1" to 1.5"  Wood Ball Knob
  • Black Spray Paint
  • Mod Podge - I used matte
  • E-6000 glue
  • Clear Finish Sealer
  • Embellishments - I cut a 3.5" yellow primitive star from the "George & Basic Shapes" Cricut Cartridge and added a cute red button with bakers twine.

Before you begin, wash glassware,  terra cotta pot and saucer and let them completely dry. Then, wipe rubbing alcohol across the outside of the glassware to remove any oil or residue.

  1. Apply the black spray paint to the outside of the flower pot, both sides of the saucer and wood ball knob.
  2. Set them aside to let dry.
  3. Apply paper embellishment shape or words onto the dried pot by using Mod Podge, first on the pot and then over the paper embellishment.
  4. Set it aside to let dry.
  5. Use E-6000 to glue the ball knob to the center of the bottom side of the saucer.
  6. Set it aside to let dry.
  7. Adhere the bowl to the base by applying glue to the bottom edge of the bowl, then pressing it onto the base.

Hold for several minutes or find something heavy to place on to to hold it in place until it's completely dry.

Now, just add candy and the lid and it's ready to display!
